Scott Haisting fell in love with SES because of its commitment to interdisciplinary and experiential learning. A social studies teacher in District 196 for 24 years and an original SES faculty member, he believes that building relationships and engaging authentic questions is the best way to prepare students for citizenship in a democracy. Students remember him for his loud, off key singing, his comic interplay with his colleagues, and his irreverent and straightforward style of speaking. In his free time he loves exploring the out of the way places of the world. He and his wife and two sons have hiked in all of Minnesota’s state parks. He is an alumnus of the University of St. Thomas and Apple Valley High School.
