Zoo and Environmental Interpretation (SES-MN Zoo Volunteer Training)

Prerequisite:  Application to the SES-MN Zoo Volunteer Program and instructor approval.

Environmental interpretation is a communication process, which forges an emotional and intellectual connection between an audience (such as zoo visitors) and a natural resource (such as animals).  Students in this course will learn the principles and techniques of environmental interpretation through a seminar and experiential style format, which will be co-taught by an SES instructor along with staff and volunteers from the Minnesota Zoo. Students will prepare and present oral and written interpretive material to MN Zoo guests. Successful students will be invited to become MN Zoo volunteers.
